Meet Jjigee and his paw-mily!
Hi everyone – Vincent here with Jjigee, my 8-month-old puppy Yorkie. I had him around the start of the year and he has been the best thing that has happened to me this year thus far!
Q: How do you care for the wellness of your pet, especially if they are prone to any hereditary illness?
Leveraging on my experiences from having my first doggo (a senior Maltese), I am more aware of the common health problems that small dog breeds tend to face. I began to pay special attention to Jjigee’s dental, guts and joint health.
At an early age, I included into his diet krill and mussel oil supplements for his joints and mobility and adopted good dental hygiene habits for him (such as using a dental wipe after each meal).
For good bowel movement, I gave him probiotic bites daily. Like all dogdads and dogmoms out there, we are constantly worrying about our fur-babies’ health and diet – even if they have the healthiest concocted diet. As such, for peace of mind, I went with Happy Tails Pet Insurance – now, I sleep like a baby.
Q: What were your consideration / buying process like when shopping around for a pet insurance?
During my “shopping” phase, my initial considerations are (1) the reputation of the insurer, (2) premium amount, (3) co-insurance rate, (4) coverage limits, (5) policy exclusions and (6) policy term.
Q: What eventually made you decide to get insured with Aon Happy Tail?
What stood out to me is that the Aon Happy Tail policy is underwritten by Income Insurance and subject to its approval or any other additional conditions, Jjigee may be able to be insured throughout his whole lifetime, unlike the other policies in the market that imposed a maximum age limit on the insured.
Q: How is the entire buying process like? How long did the entire process took?
To be honest, it wasn’t a lengthy process for me. It took me around a week or so – the bulk of the time was for me to read and familiarise myself with the terms and conditions of the policy. Being a policyholder myself with NTUC Income, I reached out to my agent and the process is seamless. Next thing I know, Jjigee is already insured.
Q: Has anything changed (mentally) after getting your pet insured?
Well now … I sleep like a baby knowing that I will always have the safety net in relation to Jjigee’s medical health.
Q: Why do you think people are not ready to commit to a pet insurance?
I can only speak for myself, but when I had my first doggo (@pupnamedluckee) I wasn’t aware that there are pet insurances in the market. In addition, when I was researching the right policy for Jjigee, I realised that some of the insurance policies have undergone some changes in terms of their coverage, premium amount and even the insurer over the last few years. To me – that can definitely be a “push” factor.
Q: Any suggestion or advice to people who are still shopping around or considering pet insurance?
Get it when they are young!
